The Multiple Roles that Women play can often lead to Self Negligence and Unhappiness

Diane M. Jones

Women often hold multiple roles in society, including being a mother, wife, daughter, friend, and employee. While taking on these roles can be fulfilling, they can also lead to self-neglect and poor health, which can ultimately lead to unhappiness.

One reason why women are more prone to self-neglect is that they often prioritize the needs of others before their own. They may spend all their time and energy taking care of their children, partner, or aging parents, leaving little time for themselves. This can lead to a lack of self-care, such as not getting enough sleep, not exercising, or not eating well, which can lead to long-term health problems.

Furthermore, women are more likely to experience stress due to the pressure of performing multiple roles. The constant demands of balancing work and home life, combined with societal expectations of what it means to be a good mother, wife, or daughter, can leave women feeling overwhelmed and stressed. According to the American Heart Association, chronic stress can cause a variety of health problems, including high blood pressure, heart disease, and depression.

Another factor contributing to women's self-neglect and poor health is a lack of support and resources. Many women lack access to affordable childcare, making it difficult for them to work or take care of themselves. Furthermore, women are frequently paid less than men for the same work, limiting their financial resources and ability to access healthcare.

In addition, women may face societal pressures to conform to certain beauty standards, which can lead to unhealthy behaviors like crash dieting or excessive exercise. These behaviors may eventually result in physical and mental health issues, such as eating disorders or injuries.

Finally, women's multiple roles in society can lead to self-neglect and poor health, which can result in unhappiness. It is critical for women to prioritize their self-care and seek help when necessary. This may entail taking time for themselves, seeking assistance from friends or family, or seeking professional help. It is also critical for society to identify and address the barriers that prevent women from gaining access to the resources and support they require to maintain their health and well-being.
